Eligibility
Regular employees working 20 hours or more a week are eligible for benefits.
The following employees are not eligible for most benefits:
- Part-time employees, scheduled to work less than 20 hours a week
- Consultants, who are considered an independent contractor or are employees of a company other than Cision
- Temporary employees, hired for a short-term assignment (generally less than six months)
- Agency employees, employed by a specific job assignment or project; this includes leased employees as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency
Eligible family members include:
- Your legally married or common-law spouse (a person who is living with you in a conjugal relationship)
- Your children who are your biological or adopted children, stepchildren or children for whom you have legal custody (must be under age 22 or age 26 if they are full-time students). Disabled children age 26 or older who meet the certain criteria may also continue on your health coverage.
When does coverage begin?
Your benefits will take effect on your first day of work. Optional employee-paid benefits will become effective upon approval of your application by the insurer.
Enroll and make changes to your benefits
You must make your benefit elections within 31 days of the qualified life event. Following are examples of the most common qualified life events:
- New Hire
- Marriage or divorce
- Birth or adoption of a child
- Child reaching the maximum age limit
- Death of a spouse or child
- Spousal loss of coverage
What action do I need to take?
You must enroll within 31 days of being eligible for coverage.
Failure to enroll within 31 days of being eligible for coverage would result in the insurer requiring to complete a medical questionnaire for you and your eligible dependents. Approval to enroll you for benefits would be subject to the medical evidence provided.
Once you are ready to enroll, follow these steps:
Complete the enrolment form: You will need to provide information about your eligible dependents, name your beneficiary for any benefits payable in the event of your death.
Return enrolment form: Return the completed enrollment form to ca.hr.support@cision.com.
