Questions to Think About When Choosing a Plan

Does your spouse/domestic partner have coverage through an employer?

Compare per-paycheck costs for coverage and how much you’ll pay when you need care under both plans (e.g., deductible, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximum). See whether it makes sense for both of you to be on one plan or for each of you to be covered separately.

Are you considering dual coverage (being covered through Cision and your spouse’s or parent’s plan)?

If you have dual coverage—that is, if you or your dependents are also covered under another health plan—be sure you know how Cision’s plan and the other insurance company determine which plan will pay a claim first and whether the other policy will contribute. (See the Medical Plan Documents > Coordination of benefits for Cision’s COB provisions). Dual coverage does not mean double benefits!

Additionally, if you are enrolled in one of Cision’s Aetna medical plans and your spouse’s or parent’s plan is not a high-deductible health plans (an HSA-qualified medical plan), dual coverage will impact your HSA eligibility which may require you to make changes to your Cision elections. (See Can I enroll in the Aetna medical plans if I am not eligible for an HSA? below.)

Will you cover a domestic partner or domestic partner’s child who does not qualify as a tax dependent?

If so, your per-paycheck contribution for coverage will be taken on an after-tax basis, and the income tax withheld from your paycheck will be increased to cover the tax due on the imputed income value of the benefit coverage. View the Documents page to learn more about imputed income.

Are your doctors and other providers in-network?

You can use the plans’ find-a-doctor tools to check if yours are in-network. If you’re not yet an Aetna member, visit the Aetna Directory to check providers the Open Access Choice POS II Network. Existing Aetna members, should log into Quantum’s MyCisionBenefits site to the to look up providers. The Aetna plans allow you to see out-of-network providers, although you’ll pay more for and you might also receive a bill from an out-of-network provider for the difference between their charge and what your plan pays (balance billing).

What about prescription drugs?

Prescription coverage is provided through Optum Rx. To check drug coverage and costs, log in to your Optum Rx’s website, or call their member services team at 855-524-0381.

If you’re not yet enrolled in medical coverage, view the Optum Rx Formulary (link to formulary doc in resources) for a list of covered drugs and exclusions. Call Optum Rx at 855-524-0381 if you have any questions.

Want to save on taxes?

Cision’s Aetna medical plans are all high-deductible health plans that are compatible with a Health Savings Account (HSA). If you enroll in one of the Aetna plans, you can enjoy the triple tax-savings advantage of an HSA if you’re eligible:

  1. Your contributions to the account are federal tax-free.
  2. The interest on your savings is federal tax-free.
  3. Your withdrawals to pay for eligible medical expenses are federal tax-free.

If you are enrolled in Medicare you cannot contribute to an HSA. Click here to learn more.
